As I was driving from one appointment to another I
began to reflect on some mistakes that I had made in my past. As I was reflecting over the mistakes, I began to become low
and started feeling those same remorse feelings that I felt when I had done the
deed at least a year prior. I then began to hear myself say again, I will never
do this again and I began to put thoughts in my head of what I was going to do
and etc. I got so engulfed in that place again that it literally felt only a
few days old. As I continued on my journey another thought came that reminded
me that what you are trying to become you already are. How perplexing that
was! As I thought about just that one statement I began to reflect over the in
between period of my fall to my today and I realized that yes I had become that
person that I vowed I would be. However there was still a problem. That problem
was, I could not see the evidence of the new me. Because I could not see the
evidence I begin to question why can’t I see this important evidence. This is
why. When we fall it hurts, and we remember or focus on the pain of the fall. We put so much
focus on that fall and its consequences that we never pay attention to
the getting up process. Because we are so determined to never fall again we spend
so much time researching and studying the fall to avoid at all cost another
fall. The problem with that is that we are living in a past crisis over and
over again that we never position ourselves to look forward. Therefore whatever
accomplishments that were made after the fall aren’t acknowledged or
celebrated. Our mindset, our posture, our decisions, our speech, and our
appearance are now still reflective of the fall.
Paul said it best. “Forgetting those things which
are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before.”(Philippians
3:13) We have to renew our minds to a place that we can no longer live in our
fall. We can no longer focus on the fall. We can no longer focus on the pain of
the fall. We have to acknowledge that we fell. Get the lesson from the fall
(there is always a lesson). Apply the lesson from the fall. Here’s the biggest
part “MOVE ON FROM THE FALL!” Embrace the new you as you become wiser, more
talented, more motivated, and happier. Whatever has your focus is where you are
headed. Looking backward means you can never move forward without falling
again! Wherever you are in this place transition from crisis 2 prosperity,
looking forward will be the key! As parents we always tell our children “Watch
where you are going before you fall!” Take your own advice; it’s crucial for
your victory!
